MANUEL CRAVERO – Head of Risk Management at Fondaco Sgr

I work as Head of Risk Management at Fondaco Sgr, an independent asset management company fully dedicated to Institutional Investors that are, by nature, long-term investors. For this reason, I was not new to the LTI Permanent Education Program’s topics: however, I believe that this experience added value to my background because of the high quality of the speakers and the wise succession of academic and practitioners’ interventions. Indeed, the program was useful to pinpoint major emerging trends (i.e. ESG) and players (i.e. Sovereign Funds) in the Industry, to glance the state of frontier research activities (i.e. papers on Private Markets) and to internalize the experience of legendary long-term investors (i.e. Nicholas Moakes of the Wellcome Trust).

ART BAS – INTESA SANPAOLO – RISK MANAGEMENT

It was great to have the opportunity to participate in the first Master in LTI. What made the course special was that, next to a clear survey of the economic institutions, many visions and interpretations were given by professionals actually involved in decision making. Personally, I came out of the course with the impression that the discussion about Long Term Investments should be associated with a reconsideration of the whole existing economic model, currently based only on profit and growth.

I’d like to point out that LTI@UniTo has an international profile which makes it a think tank of excellence aimed at establishing itself as a reference for long-term investors. The Executive Education Program by LTI@UniTo  is a high-value program. Its first edition didn’t betray my expectations. The level of teachers and their witnesses were always very high. Six modules allow participants to deepen the strategies of long term investors thanks to lectures and interaction with  sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, foundations, endowments, asset managers, insurance companies, family offices and private-public partnerships. The core of the program is to understand how long-term investing can have a positive impact on the real economy as well as deliver strong long-term returns for asset allocation strategies, not just for institutional investors. Last but not least, at the end of the program, it becomes clear how long-term investments can contribute to counteracting and correcting the shorttermism of policy makers, boards and managers, leading them towards sustainable goals (ESG criteria in the investment process).

MARCO TULUI - Marco Tului -Finanza e ALM e Pian. Fin. di Gruppo Italiana Assicurazioni (Reale Group)

On the whole, an interesting and useful Executive Program: it allows you to grasp what “long term investing” means, or “should” mean, from several perspectives. In particular, I found very interesting the lecture of Prof. Dacorogna on the quantitative framework for ALM analyses: it was very inspiring.
